The reverse of each coin depicts a mouse crouching on a bed of stones with chilli peppers clustered in the background together with the inscription ‘Year of the Mouse’ and the Chinese character for ‘mouse’. The design also incorporates The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
The 2008 Australia Lunar Year of the Mouse 1oz Gold Coin was struck by the Perth Mint in the year 2008 and belongs to the Lunar series of gold bullion coins. Each 24 carat fine gold coin contains 1 troy ounce (31.1035 grams) of gold and is legal tender with a face value of $100.
