The year 2004 marks the 25th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mint's Maple Leaf series of gold coins. A new design was created for the 2004 coin to celebrate this special occasion. While Queen Elizabeth II remains on the obverse, the reverse has been beautifully rendered to depict the famous maple leaf encircled by a wreath of maple leafs together with the inscription "25 Year Ans". The 2004 maple leaf gold coin has a limited mintage of only 10000 coins.
