In this year's issue, the reverse side of the coin features a new design by Christopher Le Brun RA, depicting Britannia, guarded by a resting but vigilant lion at her feet, presiding over a coastal landscape of sheer cliffs and the sea on which the sail of a lone vessel can be seen billowing in the wind. The obverse side of the coin honors the British Monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
