Engraved by United States Mint sculptor/engraver Al Maletsky, the reverse of the 2000 American Eagle Platinum Proof Coin depicts an eagle flying above Midwestern field.
The 2000 US Eagle 1oz Platinum Proof Coin was struck by the US Mint in the year 2000 and belongs to the Eagle series of platinum proof coins. Each .9995 fine platinum coin contains 1 troy ounce (31.1035 grams) of platinum and is legal tender with a face value of $100.
While the one ounce coins are generally the most popular amongst bullion investors, the American 2000 Eagle Platinum Proof coin also comes in fractional ounce sizes of half, quarter and one-tenth oz.
