The 2008 American Eagle Gold Coin’s obverse design features a rendition of Augustus Saint-Gaudens' full length figure of Lady Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The reverse design, by sculptor Miley Busiek, features a male eagle carrying an olive branch flying above a nest containing a female eagle and her hatchlings.
The 2008 US Eagle 1oz Gold Proof Coin was struck by the US Mint in the year 2008 and belongs to the Eagle series of gold proof coins. Each 22 carat fine gold coin contains 1 troy ounce (31.1035 grams) of gold and is legal tender with a face value of $50.
